Mini Thni Foundation provides financial support through gaming revenues to Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation and Goodstoney First Nation. Funds distributed by Mini Thni Foundation are subject to approval by Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC). VALUESIntegrityTransparencyAccountabilityFairness Board of Directors RobShotclose CherithMark AdeleRabbit Governance Mini Thni Foundation is led by a Board of Directors; comprising of a representative chosen from Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation, and Goodstoney First Nation. The Board of Directors is responsible for all funding decisions which are then subject to the approval of Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis. The Bylaws of the Foundation call for an equitable distribution of funds to Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation, and Goodstoney First Nation. Funds from gaming also support the Foundation’s administrative and operational costs. In addition, the Foundation employs all of the staff operating the Cash Cage/Count Room at the Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino. The MTF Board of Directors is responsible for hiring a full-time Executive Director to manage the day-to-day operations. Proudly Supporting --- Funding Initiatives Current Funding Initiatives Housing In 2020, the Mini Thni Foundation Board of Directors made the decision to allocate funds to Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation, and Goodstoney First Nation to build new homes as the need is great. 2020 – 2021 Mini Thni Foundation Board of Directors allocate $300,000 to Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation and Goodstoney First Nation to build one new home. Goodstoney First Nation was the first to get their funding application in and approved – the build started in August, 2021 and the new home was completed in July, 2022. 2021 – 2022 The Board of Directors could not approve funds for new home builds due to the shutdown and a loss of revenue due to COVID-19. 2022 – 2023 – The Board of Directors once again unanimously agreed to allocate funds for housing – the Foundation is in a position in this fiscal to allocate $600,000 to Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation and Goodstoney First Nation to build two new homes. 2023 – 2024 – The Board of Directors once again unanimously agreed to allocate funds for housing – the Foundation is in a position in this fiscal to allocate $700,000 to Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation and Goodstoney First Nation to build two new homes. Housing Iyahrhe Nakoda Food Bank Society Stoney Education Authority Lunch Program Continuing Education In 2021, 2022, and 2023 Mini Thni Foundation donated funds to support a Mini Thni Foundation bursary through Indspire. Indspire is an Indigenous national charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people. The scholarships are for Stoney Nakoda First Nation students who are attending post-secondary institutions across Canada (i. e. , College, University, technical college or apprenticeship program).
